I had no time to update the Skate-O-Phobia-Blog last week, but don't worry, there will be some nice updates in the next few days. ;-)

So, i have checked my e-mail inbox today and read some friendly and interesting e-mails and even comments on my last.fm-account.

The origins of IN-SANE go back to the year 1997 in Gornja Radgona, Slovenia, where a bunch of kids who were into punk rock formed a band heavily inspired by NOFX, Bad Religion and Millencolin. The early years of IN-SANE featured some personell changes, but they eventually formed a steady lineup - Dario (guitar, vocal), Máteja (bass, vocal) and Shaggie (drums). Soon they started to follow their own path, creating their own approach to punk rock, which got labeled as heart-core.

On their new record, IN-SANE remained loyal to their own formula of energetic punk rock, enriched with plenty of hardcore/emo/rock elements and rhythmical twists that give their music special dynamics and charm. The mix of catchy melodies, sharp guitars, thundering bass, fast raging rhythms and breakdowns, along with dual screaming and singing vocals doesn't leave any room for indifference. On the contrary, it will grab you, suck you in and make you ask for more. Yoyo, i'm back from skiing.

I really enjoyed the last three days, although it was perishing cold here. -25°C are low temperatures even in the Alps, but I didn't give a rat's ass on it, and was riding the hole days (and sleeping early in the evening hehe), and nearly got some bad frozen toes. :-P

So, but now i can post some stuff for you again on the Skate-O-Phobia blog.

2 weeks ago i was riding on the locals trails when the first snow of this season fell down.

On the left, a picture which was taken (unfortunately only with the cam of my mobile-phone) at the end of the trail, when i was completely iced, because of the low temperatures now hehe.

Thankfully there is now enough snow for skiing here in Austria, therefore i spend the next three days with skiing :-)
Maybe i take some photos, and post it here next week!

The band is one of the most famous italian melodic-hardcore/punkrock/skate-punk bands (from venetian Vicenza) and have been playing together for more than 12 years. Am Dienstag dem 05.Jänner 2010 ist es wieder so weit. Die Punkorama Konzertserie im Posthof Linz geht in die nächste Runde!

Bei der mittlerweile 19. Ausgabe geben sich die österreichischen Bands Outsmarted, Defcon, Leslie Act Thriller und To Be Continued die Ehre, um den Saal einmal mehr so richtig zum Beben zu bringen.

Auf Outsmarted könnt ihr gespannt sein, schließlich zogen sie sich in letzter Zeit etwas zurück, um eine neue Full-Lenght aufzunehmen (neue Songs bereits auf MySpace!), die demnächst veröffentlicht werden soll.

Defcon arbeiten zur Zeit ebenfalls an einem neuen Album, waren jedoch auch schon bei der Punkorama #18 im Oktober mitdabei. Damals u.a. mit Law Found Guilt.

A new austrian music-event was formed the first time in 2004 on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the so-called "12.-Februar-Unruhen" (for more information click here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Austrian_Civil_War).

Participating bands (most of them are Austrians, but there were also bands from Germany and Switzerland in the past) write critical songs about society, environment, globalization, surveillance and xenophobia, and the finals are also broadcasted on the national radio-station FM4.

The organizer are searching now bands for the ProtestSongContest 2010 until January.

Macht den Mund wieder zu; das ist kein Scherz!

Am 24.Feber 2010 kommen Polar Bear Club, zusammen mit den genialen Bands Shook Ones und Title Fight nach Europa (weitere Tourdaten unten) und besuchen dabei auch die Bundeshauptstadt.

Letztes Jahr in Wien waren sie noch Vorband von The Gaslight Anthem, jedoch werden die fünf Polarbären nach dem genialen "Chasing Hamburg" Album (Releasedatum war im September), bereits mit den Hardcorepunk-Legenden Refused verglichen!

In October 2009 the dutch band Antillectual went on a short tour (together with american After The Fall, who played the first time in europe) through all middle-european countries.

This month, they sent out a newsletter, where it says, that they have from now on a new bassplayer, and that they also plan to record a new album next year:

Maybe you already read it somewhere but Yvo has decided to leave Antillectual to focus on his family. You can read his statement on our website. We are very sorry for this loss and we respect and understand Yvo’s decision. But in the mean time we haven’t sit still. Therefore we are happy to announce our new bass player: Tom. He is a long time friend of the band and better known as the singer/guitarist of the late Smash the Statues. Yvo’s farewell show, which will coincide with the Smash the Statues farewell show, will take place at the Onderbroek in Nijmegen (NL) on January 23, 2010

Am Samstag 05. Dezember gibts ein paar tolle österreichische Punkrock/Hardcore Bands in Linz im Posthof zu sehen.

Mit Red Lights Flash, The Cassidy Scenario (ex - Estate) und Law Found Guilt treten drei - über die Landesgrenzen hinaus - bekannte Bands auf.

Red Lights Flash haben mit "For Your Safety", ebenso wie The Cassidy Scenario ("Withstanding Verocity") und Law Found Guilt ("Me Decade") gerade erst im Herbst ein neues Album veröffentlicht.

Daher könnt ihr Euch schon einmal auf eine fette Party mit vielen neuen Songs vorbereiten! Unbedingt hingehen falls ihr gerade in der Nähe seid!

Guns Don’t Argue started in March of 2006 as a collaboration between three musicians who wanted to create good music, play live shows and have a good time in the process. In time, all things change, grow and mature. Guns Don’t Argue is no exception… throughout the past 3 years, our line up has grown to five members, positions in the band have changed and most importantly, the music has matured and, to our taste, is better than ever.

We enjoy writing and playing music that is challenging to all involved. We’ve been able to play live regularly and those who make it out to our shows tend to return for more. As a band we are satisfied with what we write and if we’re not, we work on it until we are. We are looking forward to a future of more releases and live shows to keep us out there and in the scene. Hmmmm, kids today like listening to lots of new powerpop, pop-punk - or sometimes even called popcore - bands. So, there is a new american band called "To Write A Riot" (sometimes also written "To Write A Riot!"), who plays perfect powerpop hehe.

I know, most of you don't like that kind of music, but yesterday they uploaded a bad funny cover of Cyndi Lauper's hymn "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" on their MySpace-Site.

Taco Bell "supports" every year about 100 bands with their marketing strategy called "Feed the Beat".

Some carefully-selected bands get - according to an article in a german fanzine - 500 Dollar for fast-food during their tours, and after their concerts; marketing support included. More than 500 Bands applied for this special support service.

Taco Bell chose their favourites on the basis of a band's performance and musicianship, originality and material selection, and overall appeal and personality. Anyway, when you have a look at the list, it will also seem strange to you, that their are only well-known bands on the list, who could proudly refuse free and unhealthy fast-food (with very low production costs ... ) after their concerts.

Apparently, for some reason bands like Atreyu, Bouncing Souls, Less Than Jake, Story of a Year, Municipal Waste, or The All-American Rejects need such advertising-support, and the Taco Bell leadership gloats due to that very cheap and effective marketing concept.

Amusingly, also vegetarian bands like Strike Anywhere found their names on the list.

The band was formed in 2004 in Kharkiv, Ukraine. Since then we went through four changes in band's membeship. But never stopped.
During years 2005-2006 we released two demo CDs and one EP called "Music For Feet". At the same time we played lots of shows over Ukraine.
Starting as a pop punk band we grew up to fast melodic punk/melodic hardcore.

NeverBeenFamous in Steyr [ 16.01.2010]

Jo, NBF geben am 16. Jänner wiedermal ein Konzert, und nochdazu in der Umgebung, in Steyr.
Freu mich schon darauf, nochdazu da ich ja das letzte Konzert in Zwettl (oö) maturabedingt leider nicht sehen konnte.

Never Been Famous sind übrigens eine oberösterreichische Skatepunk/Melodic-Punk Band, die - nach der genialen Charged EP - nächstes Jahr nun endlich wieder ein neues Album veröffentlichen wollen.

Mitdabei sind die Locals von der Pop-Punk Band Stup-iT (die ich am 10.Dezember vermutlich auch im Strom in Linz sehen werde), CannonballRide, sowie die international sehr bekannten Show Your Teeth.

Solltet ihr aus der Umgebung von Steyr, besser gesagt aus OÖ, NÖ, oder Stmk. kommen, dann könnt ihr euch den 16. Jänner schonmal fix im Kalender anstreichen! 4 geile Bands für 5€!!!

Some people say, that Sportloto sounds like a bad ukrainian version of the french band Forus. Although it is correct, that both bands play a similar fast and technical skatepunk-sound, there is one big difference: Sportloto also give live-concerts to their fans. :-P

Until now, they only have released the excellent "We See, Most Don't" EP (DIY - 2007), and the song "Open the Box", which you can find on the new FastCircle-Comp (Oct. 2009).
